By now my brother BG had become a “Hot” surfer, not because he was my older brother, it was because he had natural talent and he started working with Greco on his own short board designs. He more than held his own with the area’s hot surfers, especially the Cocoa crew. Being called “O-ville Kooks” pushed us to be better surfers and Greco’s designs gave us the boards to improve at a quicker pace. as more of the Orlando crew began showing up at the local beaches with "Universal Wave Machines". the name paul and greco came up with for this new line of short boards, the other surfers started to take notice. We would be at The Pier or 16th St. or Patrick’s Pier and the Cocoa crew would always want to check out our boards. BG was now shaping and glassing his own boards, having picked up as much as he could from Greco, who had returned to California. Soon my close friends and I started to buy up longboards (wish I’d kept a few) stripping them down and going over to my brother’s shaping shed in his backyard, sorry Dori (my,Brother's 1st wife). Most were terrible and ugly, but a few of our own shapes actually worked. Soon we had outline templates, fin templates and anytime we saw something new, we’d take down the dimensions for our next experiment. When I look back, this was really the “Birth of Surfboards Samoa” and I have to give credit to Greco, my Brother and all the other fantastic shapers I watched and learned from. My first label was inspired by my first trip to Western Samoa, my Mother, my Grandmother and my Samoan heritage. Fa'a fe Tai and please check this page for more as, I continue my voyage to the "Cradle of Polynesia" RG
